Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 技術及職業教育研究所 === 89 === The purpose of this study to explore the present status of special education practiced in the classes of vocational high schools is listed as follows.1.To anatomize the relationship between vocational education and special education.2.to explore both the background of undertaking and status of planning for the special education.3.To analyze the present status of special education practiced in the classes, including methods of identifying students, planning & arrangement of departments, courses & materials for teaching, hiring & training of teachers, and assistance of employment for students. Analysis of the documents and survey of the questionnaires are two methods adopted in this study. To focus on the teachers, facilities, selection and arrangement of courses and materials etc., for the slightly disabled students, my first step was to collect the related information from domestic and overseas vocational high schools, and then carried out the survey of questionnaires sent to 49 vocational high schools by post.The total number of students was 880, including 10 students selected from grade 2 & 3 respectively; the total number of teachers was 294 in terms of six teachers selected from each school. Finally, through a series of statistics and analysis, the results came out as follows. Vocational high schools can provide special schools with their special facilities; while special schools can hold teaching demonstration as well as the know-how training of special education for the teachers of vocational high school. To help the people with mental & physical disability reduce their family burden and furthermore turn them into useful manpower, we must make the full use of the abundant teaching resources in vocational high schools. The way how the special classes practiced in vocational high schools is according to the handbook to help the students with mental or physical disability, which is adopted by the local “Commissioners of Identifying, Settling and Assisting”. So far, there are 11 majors in the special classes now.However,part of the courses can’t really meet students’ need. Because, the teaching materials are made by individual teacher. Also the number of teachers is still far behird wanted. So far there is only 35.3% of teachers is qualified for special education. Meanwhile no assistants in any institution can help the students with mental or physical disability to apply for employment after education. Only schools can provide them with such assistance. Our government should make the related laws to protect them for employment. According to the above facts, I’d like to offer the following suggestions. 1.The mutual sharing of resources in vocational high school and special school should be consolidated. 2.In order to take care of the disabled, vocational high school affiliated with special classes should start to carry out 12-year primary education prior to our government.3.The information of recruiting students for special education should be fully promoted. Besides, the method of identifying disability should be with trust and justice.4.The arrangement and planning of setting up the departments should be focused on the need of the employment market.5. Materials used and teaching methods should be based on students’ individual differential.6.The recruitment and training of teachers should be emphasized on both vocational education and special education.7.There should be formal institutions for “Supervisors of Employment” and “Teaching Assistants” to assist the students with mental disability in employment and daily life.8.In order to have the students with disability learn and develop happily, it’s necessary to pay attention to their feeling for education as well as provide them with the nice class management.
