However, the information of contemporary Taiwanese Architecture hasn’t been systematically collected and arranged; most of architectural information is scattered among government institutes, academic units, newspapers and magazines and related fields. Collection, arrangement and application of such architectural information will help the developing history of Taiwanese Architecture be understood. The state of the art of computer technology enables the collection of establishing digitalized native architectural information. This research adopts case-based approach for the study of contemporary Taiwanese Architecture. The major subjects of this study are as follows: 1.Early architectural works of Taiwanese architects from Mainland China; 2.The imitations of Chinese architecture in Taiwan; 3.Collaborative works of foreign and Taiwanese architects; 4.Works of high-rise buildings in Taiwan; 5.Works of female architects in Taiwan; 6.Works of new-generation architects in Taiwan; 7.Awards of architectural magazines in Taiwan; 8.Public architectural design competition in Taiwan; 9.Other architectural works. To digitalize the information of contemporary Taiwanese Architecture is a difficult task, no matter in technical or implemental aspect. Notwithstanding, in view of developing knowledge-economy, if the compatible software and standards are used by each other in the future, then, the users in different countries can share the international related information through the Internet. Besides, the traditional text data we have today will be reformed into multi-media format, which will further surpass the confinement of time and space. The construction of contemporary Taiwanese architectural information system is not limited in collecting words, images or sound only; rather, it emphasizes on the benefits and influence which information may create.Entering into the electronic age, information is closely relative with architectural research; moreover, the applications of information technology enable the researchers to search for necessary information through more convenient and rapid searching mechanisms. With respect to the knowledge-obtaining method of the information age, the contemporary Taiwanese architectural information system will offer a fast and effective data-transferring network to help the architectural experts and scholars with their research work.
