Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 材料工程研究所 === 89 === Since PP nonwoven is hydrophobic and inertia surface, it has the limited practical applications. Modification into a hydrophilic surface on PP nonwoven by the plasma activation and subsequent photo-induced surface graft polymerization process is investigated in this study. In the plasma states of argon, oxygen, or Tetramethyltin/oxygen mixed gas, the emission spectrum at visible ranges have been studied by optical emission spectroscopy(OES) with r.f. power and periods as the variable parameters. PP nonwoven was activated by O2、Ar or organictin gas plasma, whereon the water soluble monomers, such as Acrylamide (AAm) and Itaconic acid (Itac), can be subsequently grafted by UV-induced surface graft polymerization. The surface wettability was evaluated by the water absorption ratio. The result indicates that the water soluble monomer-grafted surface exhibits a substantial increase in the hydrophility and the extent of improvement in hydrophilic properties increases with the amount of grafting.
