For example, existing applications, such as Microsoft NetShow, integrate a signaling protocol into the application, and it is not possible for other application writers to reuse this signaling library for other Internet telephony applications. However, at Cornell, the ITX (IP Telephony Exchange) project has created an open-source, portable, programmable platform for developing multimodel applications. In initiating signaling setup between two peers, the ITX uses Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) to look up Internet addresses, which likes a redirect server in the Session Initiation Protocol. After client users send a request message to the BIND server, the server replies the address about the destination to the caller and then the caller can contact with the user by means of the address information received from the BIND server. In this thesis we will implement the SIP proxy server using ITX signaling packages. This makes the signaling of the ITX standard and portable because of writing the whole application in Java language. The ITX SIP proxy server is responsible for establishing a connection between users. When a calling takes place, the ITX SIP proxy server looks up the database, fetches the callee’s information, and then puts the two users in a connecting channel. The whole operations take place in the ITX SIP proxy server, so that the loads in the user agent will be reduced. Lung-Hsiung Wang 王龍雄 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 51 zh-TW
