碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業設計系碩士班 === 89 === Universal Design is generally considered as a design concept due to insufficient example evidence; besides, Assistive Technology is usually a stereotype of special research area. It would help to reach practice and communication of Universal Design in the view of Assistive Technology and also be able to carry out a redefinition of it. Assistive Technology turns to be articles of daily use for the elderly because of the necessity and frequent use of it. In fact, Assistive Technology can be part of daily use appliance in need of assisting various move except for application in nursing institution. Take bathing system, the application of safety tub mat, interior iron handrail etc. could satisfy user from different age. And these examples bring back to the idea of Universal Design, which is concerned by the academic circle nowadays. This research finds out common items through the analysis of distinct products, brings up discussions and recommends, and also try to understand the feelings of the elderly and service staffers about institution bathing system through investigation. The recording were then analyzed to identify any difficulties the elderly or disabilities may encounter in the process of bathing. Comparative analysis would be processed through items from difficulties recording with AHP ratio result. The final data would be integrated to be the evaluation and application of Universal Design on Assistive Technology. The approaches and information gathered during the research could also be useful for further investigation development or design concerning bathing systems in the elderly nursery institutions.
