Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 工業化學與災害防治研究所碩士班 === 89 === Carbon dioxide is one of the primary greenhouse gases in resulting the global warming problem. How to mitigate carbon dioxide emissions becomes a major issue around the world. The aim of this thesis is to study a process to recover carbon dioxide from flue gases by a cyclic fixed-bed adsorber packed with activated carbon impregnated by carbonate. Two carbonates were impregnated onto activated carbon. Carbon dioxide was chemically adsorbed on carbon bed during adsorption run. After breakthrough of carbon dioxide, using a hot helium stream purge the packed bed, and then, the capture carbon dioxide was released and recovered by the decomposition of hydrogencarbonate. Two major parts of the experiments were conducted in the research. There are impregnation of activated carbon and dynamic adsorption and desorption operation of the fixed-bed. A nitrogen adsorption analyzer was used to determine physical properties of both fresh and impregnated activated carbon, such as specific surface area, pore size distribution, and pore volume. Besides,an X-ray diffraction analyzer was employed to investigate the variation of the carbonates loaded on activated carbon after adsorption and desorption operation. Operating parameters include type of carbonates, carbon materials, moisture content in gas stream, gas flow rate, adsorption temperature, desorption temperature and the concentration of carbon dioxide. The result of investigations on the process of carbon dioxide adsorption in a impregnated activated carbon modified by carbonates, are presented. It has been found that activated carbon modified by decadency pressure impregnated method possessed of higher adsorption ability at carbon dioxide, and maintained the efficiency after nine cyclic runs. In additional, it is easy to recovery the carbon dioxide from decomposition the hydrogencarbonate by using a hot helium stream purged.
