All the characterizations of our samples have been carried out by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), Electron diffraction (ED), Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectometer (ICP-AES) and X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD). In the first procedure, (η4-1,3-cyclohexadiene)iron tricarbonyl was chosen as precursor and various surfactants and solvents were used to produce iron nanoparticles. The results indicated the refluxing in 1-octanol without any surfactant is the best reaction environment for fabricating iron nanoparticles with uniform size distribution. In the second procedure, each of the three precursors, (η4-1,3- cyclohexadiene) iron tricarbonyl, bis(η5-2,4-cyclohexadiene-1-yl)iron and Fe(CO)5, was mixed with TOPO to thermal reflux at 340oC. Spheric iron nanoparticles were synthesized. In the third procedure, the same steps were carried out as described in the second procedure, and then a certain amount of precursors in TOP were injected into the reactor. 1-D nanostructured iron phosphide was produced, including nanorods and nanowires. In preliminary magnetic measurements, nanoscaled iron and iron phosphide exhibit ferromagnetic and superparamagnetic behavior at low temperatures.
