It must have differentiating traffic trunks, handling failures, multiple classes of service, and load balance ability. In this thesis, we focus on handling failures topic. We study many related RFC drafts, and analyze the difference between different recovery mechanisms. We discuss issues being occurred in actual network operation. Issue involve: causes network congestion seriously due to select the bad path from “protection switch method”. Causes long service interrupted time if using dynamic rerouting. Moreover, if “protection switch rerouting” is used, maintaining large numbers of LSPs is required. This may cause large overhead for maintaining LSP state information to support LSR operation. For out study, we integrate the advantages of existing recovery mechanisms, such as low overhead, high throughput, and low service interrupted time, to propose a new recovery mechanism named Moore approach. We use NS2 network simulator to evaluate the performance, such as throughput, loss volume, resource utilization, and system complexities. Finally we evaluate what corresponding mechanism could be fitted with traffic characteristic, and illustrate that Moore approach fit to protect AF LSP. Kim-Joan Chen 陳景章 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 55 zh-TW
