Firstly, we use Timoshenco Beam Theorem and Hamilton’s Principle to derive the motion equation of the flexible shaft, and then establish the transfer matrix of the shaft segment. Through assembling the transfer matrices of the shaft segments, disks, and bearings, we can obtain the global transfer matrix of the rotor system. Since the state variables of the transfer matrix include lateral deflections, deflection angles caused by shears and bending moments respectively, shears, bending moments, torque, and torsional angle, it can reveal the real dynamic behavior of rotor systems.
