This study proposes that the type of network, the target contacts and the position in the network all will influence the competitiveness of the focal firm. This study chose the firms in the Hsin-Chu Scientific Park as the target sample, collected the data needed by mail questionnaire, and use the multiple regression models to analyze them. Through the analysis, this study found: 1.The closer the contact partners to the geographic cluster the stronger the focal firms’ competitiveness are; 2.The geographic clustering will influence the focal firms’ networking positions and the latter will influence their competitiveness; 3.The multiplicity of the networking ties have negative impact on the focal firms’ competitiveness and 4.The information and electronic industries as a whole tend to prefer to transact in arm’s of length with their transaction partners.
