Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 交通工程與管理所 === 90 === Curved steel box girders are often the only choice for the bridge superstructure because of the geometric limitation and high curvature which is the main reason for creating the large torsional load for curved bridges. Curved steel box girder bridges are widely used along the elevated bridges or at the interchange area due to their high torsional stiffness. Additional stresses may be induced if the internal diaphragms are not well arranged or designed for curved steel box girders. Because of the curvature, eccentric loading and the large box sections, the distortional behavior is not easy to be detected during the construction stages. Once the excessive distortional deformations are found during the construction stage, it is hard to handle. Although most of the design specifications have remarked the possible distortional behavior for curved steel box girders, the design criteria for the internal diaphragm systems inside the box girders are not well outlined. Therefore, the main purpose for this research project aims to well arrange the internal diaphragms so that the induced distortional behavior for the curved steel box girder bridges will be minimized or possibly be eliminated. The results of this research can be utilized by the engineers for the practical design purposes.
