Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 農業推廣教育研究所 === 90 === The importance of balanced ecological system in Taiwan has not been genuinely recognized by the general people until the occurrence of 921 earthquake in 1999. It finally comes to people’s mind that the only way to avoid the damages of natural disaster is to change human attitudes and behavior toward environmental sustainability. Land ethic, therefore, is an important rationale to be introduced to help people reconsider their relation with surrounding natural environment. Based on this perspective, this study is to explore how the local non-profit organizations, primarily consisting of local residents, take the “land ethnic” into account when they take part in community rebuilding projects. In terms of research methods, phenomenological method of qualitative research approach was employed to extract the essence of phenomenon from people’s experiences. This method is aimed at finding out how the targeted local non-profit organizations, based on their working experiences, make plans and carry out the reconstruction projects without destroying community''s original ecological environment. It is found that all the selected local non-profit organizations to great extent take the conservation of natural environment and resources into consideration in reconstruction process. It is generally obeyed that the environmental destruction should be decreased to the minimum to maintain the ecological balance. However, the effect is affected by the individual community industrial development policy, residents’ cooperation, and governmental support. In a brief, sustainable community development is a long way to go, and “land ethic” is an absolutely important concept in keeping human and natural resources sustainable existence.
