People spend more and more time on using computers. With the prevalence of window-oriented software which has icons as operating interface, computer mouse become a required and important input device at present. Long-time using unsuitable mouse will result in musculoskeletal disorders, especially to the growing schoolboys. Thus it is imminent to design computer mouse on CHI safety which are suitable for the schoolboys of our country. This research is based on ergonomic. Through measuring demographic and anthropometric data of participants, collecting the electromyography (EMG) data, evaluating a subjective test, interviewing the schoolboys in 4th-6th grade, and investigate, we compare five different shape, size, and height of mice to find which is the best one on CHI safety. By experiment and data-analyzing, we expect to build up the design principles of the mouse for shoolboy and offer suggestions to the mouse designer. The results indicate that the length of mouse about 95mm to 100mm has the least wrist extension angle. If the length of mouse is shorter than 90mm or longer than 110mm, the ulnar extension angle will increase. The height of mouse for schoolboys is better not more than 35mm. And the optimal height is 32mm-33mm. The undersurface area of mouse about 45±1cm2 has the least ulnar extension angle. When the undersurface area is smaller than 40 cm2, the ulnar extension angle will increase and become unsuitable for the schoolboys. The optimal radian of the interface between mouse and palm is about 50mm. Hsin-Hsi Lai 賴新喜 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 93 zh-TW
