Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 教育研究所 === 90 === Abstract The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship among adolescent sensation seeking, egocentrism and delinquency, and further to discuss the relationship of different degree of sensation seeking and egocentrism, and delinquency under the influence of legal opportunity to achieve goals and social bonds. Besides, the study tried to provide a possible path to suppress juvenile delinquency. The study used the method of self-report questionnaire survey. The samples of the study were 1,347 junior high school, senior high school, and vocational high school students randomly selected from Tainan city and Tainan county. Data were analyzed by statistics methods, including descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, nested regression model analysis, and path analysis. The major findings were as follows: First, adolescent sensation seeking and personal fable level of egocentrism had positive relationship with juvenile delinquency;that meant adolescents who had higher degree of sensation seeking, more emphasized the uniqueness of self emotions, and more believed themselves were immortal, were more likely to commit deviant behaviors. Second, when adolescents only possessed the quality of imaginary audience, they not necessarily committed deviant behaviors. But when adolescent egocentrism combined with sensation seeking, adolescents who had higher degree of sensation seeking, personal fable and imagery audience, were more likely to commit deviant behaviors. Moreover, when including the effect of opportunity factor and social control variables, the positive effect of imagery audience on delinquency disappeared. Additionally, although opportunity factor could suppress the relationship of imagery audience with delinquency, the negative effect of opportunity factor on delinquency vanished after social control variables were included. Finally, the correlation between all variables and delinquency didn’t change after containing the effect of control variables. Possible explanations for these findings and their implications were discussed. Based on the survey and findings, this study also proposes some relevant suggestions that can be a reference for school counseling and the future researches.
