The objective of this study was to establish an inventory of mathematics learning elated quality of life for high school students to explore senior high school students’ quality of learning mathematics from the perspectives of Happiness and Satisfaction. Subjectively, it is hoped that this study may serve as a reference for future improvement in mathematical education.
Five hundred and nine senior students randomly selected from senior high schools had been surveyed via the MRQOL questionnaire developed by researchers. Using statistical analysis, students had been classified into three groups of different levels, namely, high, moderate and low according to MRQOL score. In order to confirm the validity and also reliability of the questionnaire, we had interviewed students who were picked up randomly from each group of different levels.
The results of the quantitative analysis are given as follows.
(1) Female students feel greater satisfaction than male students
to a significant extend in the aspect of Student-Teacher
Interaction.
(2) There is no significant difference on MRQOL score between
male and female students.
(3) Students who major in natural sciences score significantly
higher in Mathematical Beliefs, Learning Method and
Attitude, Goal Orientation, Self-efficiency, Mathematics
Anxiety, Student- Teacher Interaction, and overall MRQOL
than students who major in social sciences.
