It brings together theory and practice. A plan of action for creative writing teaching was designed, and based on the implementation of this plan, the effects on student writing were discussed. Creative writing teaching was carried out with a grade three class. Through continual reflection and alternation during the teaching process, suitable writing teaching materials were developed. It was hoped that through a highly varied and lively creative teaching approach, two problems in student writing─“inadequate length” and “bland and uninteresting wording”─could be improved. Following upon an entire academic term of exploratory research and three months of action research, the following conclusions were reached: 1.Using a highly varied creative teaching approach, the writing activities were designed that excited students’ learning interest and also greatly benefited their writing. 2.Through the stimulation and practice of sensory perception, students could gather even more materials for their writing and enrich the content of their compositions. 3.To develop creativity you must start with what you have;if the course content takes its foundation in the knowledge and life experience that students already possess, then it can help students produce even more ideas and material for their writing. 4.By giving illustrative explanations and appropriate guidance, teachers can clarify student notions about writing and thus allow students to find the right direction for their compositions. 5.By giving positive encouragement and recognition, teachers can build student confidence in writing. 6.Student writing effects:From a comparison of composition length, content, and learning interest before the writing teaching and after, it was obvious that student willingness to engage in writing activities had risen greatly and that their writing ability was gradually increasing. Based on these research results, this researcher proceeded to propose recommendations for the implementation of creative writing teaching and for future research.
