Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to explore the effects of peer tutoring on the Chinese language learning of multi-disabled children. It is a quasi-experimental research. The subjects were second to sixth graders in an elementary school, special classes. The experimental group received treatment for five weeks. Analyses of covariance indicate that the comprehension of vocabulary with picture increases significantly in the experimental group and the Chinese language learning strategies of this group also improve significantly. For qualitative inquiry, the tutors, the subject students, and curriculum-related teachers were asked for viewpoints on the learning condition and behavioral change of the children. Suggestions in practical teaching and future research are also proposed.
