The main purpose of this study is to examine and compare the effects of SST on improving level of social functions. The components of training program included conversational skills as well as assertive skills. A pre-post test control group quasi-experimental design was used in the study. A sample of 78 patients were selected from two chronic wards in a military hospital. They were randomly assigned into two regimes : (1) experimental group, in which subjects in the group received SST two times (60 minutes/time) a week for four weeks. (2) comparison group which patients received only daily routine activities. There were four waves of data collections (prior to the treatment, the second week, the fourth week, and one month after the treatment). The assessment of this study included “Positive And Negative Syndrome Scale”, “Interaction Anxiousness Scale”, “Interpersonal Communication Satisfaction Inventory”, “Assertive Scale”. The chi-square test, t-test, Generalized Estimating Equation (GEE) were applied to analyze the longitudinal data. The results of this study were as follows : (1) Significant improvements of conversational skills and assertive skills were shown in the experimental group after 8 sections of the program. (2) The conversational skills and assertive skills of the experimental group are better than comparison group in four data collection periods. Overall, the results clearly indicated that SST should be involved in the plan for chronic schizophrenic rehabilitation. For psychiatric nurses’ training, it is also recommended that SST should be adopted in nurse forming education and in-service education. Thus, it is beneficial to the quality of psychiatric nursing care and the base of clinical application. Chou Kuei-Ru 周桂如 2001 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW |
