Abstract
The Tang Dynasty was the most prosperous period in Chinese history. In fields like politics, economy, military affairs, and the culture of art, it not only inherited old traditions but also made innovations, and made great great achievement. Under the inherited traditions and creative innovations, the Tang Dynasty’s poetry demonstrated the difference of ancient features. It becomes not only the mainstream of ancient literary, but also leaves a large number of works. It is an important literature heritage in the history of Chinese culture。
The three poetesses-- Li Ye , Shue Tao and Yu Xuan Ji-- were characters in such diverse era and poetry trend. In addition to individual spiritual characteristics, their pieces showed the time trend and social phenomenon. The three poetesses were the research subjects in this article. It studied the unique appearance of poetry art forms they created how their background interacted with their works. This article was divided into seven chapter as follows：
Chapter One〈preface〉：Describe the motives of the study, its purpose and scope, data application, method and research procedure。
Chapter Two 〈era and background〉：To study the relationship between the background of the era and their poetry from the social and political background, poetry background, women of the Tang Dynasty and their social life respectively.
Chapter Three〈life background and association with literati 〉：To explore how the three poetess formed their character, thoughts related with their poetry from analyzing their inborn talent, real life experience and their friends.
Chapter Four〈forms and contents of poetry〉：First, analyze their poetries’ forms to find out their different styles, their personal preferences and what they are particularly good at. Based on the poetry’s main idea, categorize them into to four types─expression of giving and rewarding, seeing someone off in natural scenery, intoning things to express emotions and yearning for deep passion. The above analysis was to explore their characteristics in styles and contents.
Chapter Five〈artistic characteristics of poetry〉：This chapter was divided into two sections. First section explored their usage on measures of art, such as exquisite wordings, ingenious uses of references, expressions of feelings through scene, implicit and circumlocutory, bright image, the usage of questions and making use of colors. The second section discussed their individual unique art styles to generalize and analyze their distinct features of poetry exhibition.
Chapter Six〈poetry achievements and contributions〉：This chapter was divided into two sections. First section showed their poetry achievement through predecessors’ commented, contemporaries’ evaluated and anthology adopted. The second section discussed how the elucidation of authoresses’ main conscious in their poetry contributed to modern female literature.
Chapter Seven〈conclusion〉：To ensure firmly the three poetesses’ status and contribution in literature history by synthesizing the results on the above discussion about this article.
