For a big enterprise that has larger organization and many submits such as China Steel Corp, the knowledge (explicit and tacit) used to performed the tasks is influenced by the particular context due to the different tasks between each subunit. The knowledge management satisfaction was closedly related to the way of obtaining the knowledge. Hence, a contingency framework from theoretical argument is developed in this study. This includes two attributes of organization subunit’s tasks:process or content orientation, and focused or broad domain, which are also linked to the transformation of knowledge possible models:Internalization., Externalization, Combination and Socialization that are identified by Nonaka(1995) to establish the expected appropriateness model of knowledge management process. The empirical research was performed at eight organization subunits of China Steel Corp. based on serveral detail data survey and interview with general manager, engineer, administrator and researcher. The conclusion of this study are as follows. (1) Internalization process has a gaeater knowledge mangaement satisfaction in organization subunit performing focused, proces –orinted tasks, and verified by Rolling Mill Department II (case2), (2)Externalization proceas has greater knowledge management satisfaction in organization subunit performing focused, content-orinted tasks, and verified by Purchasing Department (case 5) and Industrial Safety, Hygiene and Environment Protection Department (case 6), (3)Combination process has greater knowledge management satisfaction in organization subunit performing broad, content-orinted tasks, and verified by Rolling mill Engineering Department (case 1)and Utilities Engineering Department(case 4), (4)Socialization process has greater knowledge management satisfaction in organization subunit performing broad, process-orinted tasks, and verified by Industrial Engineering Department (case 3), Steel & Aluminum R&D Department (case 7) and Plant Engineering & Maintenace Department (case 8).
