There are four main purposes in this research : (1) to understand the current development in elementary school principals’ transformational leadership and educators’ job satisfaction. (2) to discuss the differences in educators’ job satisfaction due to different principals’ transformational leadership, and to understand the relationship between principals’ transformational leadership and educators’ job satisfaction. (3) to forecast analysis of different backgrounds and principals’ transformational leadership toward educators’ job satisfaction. (4) to synthesize the research findings and provide suggestions for elementary school administration. The research methods employed in this study were survey method and literature analysis. The survey form “Questionnaire to survey the current development of elementary schools in Taichung City and County”, which includes “transformational leadership scale” modified by the author and “Job satisfaction questionnaire for elementary school teachers” modified by Jen Cheng-Sun, is used as the tool for the survey. Seventy-five elementary schools were selected randomly in Taichung City and County and 721 questionnaires were distributed to the elementary school educators, with the return of 688 questionnaires, which includes 686 valid questionnaires. The amount of the valid questionnaires stands for 95.15% of the total amount of the questionnaires those were distributed. The data was analyzed through the methods of descriptive and inferential statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s method, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regressions using a SPSS for windows 8.0.1 package. The findings of the study are as follows: 1.Most of the educators in the elementary schools of Taichung City and County show higher perception in all aspects to the principals’ transformational leadership. Among all of the aspects, the educators show the highest perception toward the aspect of “Charisma influence”, revealing that the educators in the elementary schools place importance on the principal’s charisma the most. 2.A majority of the educators rate high on job satisfaction, with a higher rating on “changes in job” and a lower rating on “principals’ supervising behaviors”. 3.The educators who were older, senior, with concurrently administrative duties, or teaching in small-scale schools show higher perception of principals’ transformational leadership. 4.The educators who were older, married, senior, with concurrently administrative duties, or teaching in small-scale schools rate higher on job satisfaction. 5.There is a significant positive relationship between elementary school principals’ transformational leadership and teachers’ job satisfaction. The more transformational leadership the principals employ, the higher job satisfaction the educators rate. 6.The background of the elementary schools educators, the school environments and some parts of principals’ transformational leadership has a significant predictability on the school effectiveness; especially the variable of “encouragement with prospect” shows the highest predictability. Based on the above findings, the study suggests some implications of leadership, educational practices and further studies as well. 碩士 === 臺中師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 90 === Abstract
The objective of this study is to understand the relationship between elementary school principals’ transformational leadership and educators’ job satisfaction.
The findings of the study are as follows:
1.Most of the educators in the elementary schools of Taichung City and County show higher perception in all aspects to the principals’ transformational leadership.
Keywords: elementary school principal、 transformational leadership、 educators’ job satisfaction、 job satisfaction.
