Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 通訊工程研究所 === 90 === The resource reservation mechanism is essential for QoS provisioning in wireless networks. To support mobility with QoS guarantees, mobile hosts need to reserve resources in advance at locations where the hosts may visit next. Previous works always try to reserve resources in all neighboring cells for any mobile hosts with guaranteed requirements. However, these schemes do not consider that different mobile hosts can have different QoS requirements when they experienced handoff process, and therefore underutilize the network resources. In this thesis, we present an Economic Resource Reservation Scheme (ERRS) to manage the scarce resources efficiently in wireless networks. The ERRS is based on a static pricing plan for resource usage. The ERRS scheme differentiates QoS requirements of mobile hosts in neighboring cells. The ERRS allows a mobile host to detect and decide whether to reserve required resources in neighboring cells beforehand. The proposed scheme is simulated and is compared with the conventional ANCR (all neighboring cells reserved in advance). The results of mathematical analysis and simulations indicate that the ERRS can accommodate more numbers of active guaranteed flows and improve the QoS of connections in wireless networks.
