The subjects included 212 sixth grade elementary school students and 219 third grade junior high school students in Tainan responding to the “modern moral judgment scale” and “Confucian moral judgment scale”. The data were statistically analyzed by t-test and chi-square test. The major findings of this study were as follows: First of all, in terms of the stage of moral judgment (1)On the “modern moral judgment scale”: The main stage of moral judgment development of junior high school students were at stage 4, and the elementary school students were at stage 3, significant difference was obtained between them. There were no significant differences in gender and SES found at elementary school students and junior high school students. (2)On the “Confucian moral judgment scale”: The main stage of moral judgment development of junior high school students and elementary school students were both at stage 4, but the minor stage was at stage A for junior high school students, and at stage 3 for elementary school students. A statistically significant difference was obtained between them. There were no significant differences in gender and SES found at elementary school students and junior high school students. Secondly, in terms of the P-scores (1)On the “modern moral judgment scale”: In junior high school students, females scored higher than males, so did elementary school students. There were no significant differences between high and low SES subjects of junior high school students, so did elementary school students. Junior high school students scored higher than elementary school students on P-scores. (2)On the “Confucian moral judgment scale”: In junior high school students, females scored higher than males, so did elementary school students. There were no significant differences between high and low SES subjects of junior high school students, so did elementary school students. Junior high school students scored higher than elementary school students on P-scores. At the end of this study, a few suggestions are provided for moral education and future studies. 裘學賢 2002 學位論文 ; thesis 318 zh-TW
