It represents related rich discussions on crime prevention of public space nowadays, but urban planning is absented in those discussions. In fact, some cities turn to establish structure of Safe Cities on crime prevention of public space through operation of urban planning. Besides, “Safe Cities” is a planning guideline to assist planner for avoiding natural and man-made disasters to damage urban environments, however, it prevents guided only for natural disaster and neglects its effects on aspect of crime prevention currently。 Therefore, crime prevention of public space remains unsatisfied results without practice from urban planning and establishes Safe Cities in fully functions. This study focuses on crime prevention of public space from urban planning aspects and reaches its study goals on an establishment of planning guideline to prevent crime in public space through urban planning. It starts to discuss and analyze related spatial structures and criminal subjects to verify relationships between planning and crime in public space. Continually, it reviews related successful planning experiences from foreign cities and criticizes research results in study area in order to practice fundamental structure of Safe Cities in Taiwan through this study goal.
