The adults emerged between 27-44 days after deposition. On the no-choice test, the percentage of offspring emerging from lotus seed, Euryale ferok, Coix lacryma and brown rice were 0, 20.4, 14.1 and 65.5%, respectively; the developmental time of 95% offspring emerging from the last three seeds were 52.4, 45.4 and 34.9 days after deposition. The sexual maturation for the males was 2-14 days after emergence. The preoviposition of the females was 1-9 days after emergence. When the female paired with the male all life, the life span lasted 136 days. The females deposited an average of 221.3 eggs in their life with no deposition occurring in the lastest 14 days. The female laid 2-3 eggs per day between 6-65 days old. Female’s age was greatly affected the developmental time of her offspring. Offspring produced by the older females required longer developmental time. The longevity of adults without food supplies was 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 8.0, 6.0, 4.0, and 2.0 days at 1, 21, 41, 61, 81, 101, and 121-day-old, respectively. It showed that the weevils at 1-40 day-old lived significantly longer than those at 61-121 day-old. In general, the males exhibited greater longevity than the females.
