Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 商學研究所 === 90 === In recent years, due to the introductions of numerous technology innovations and dramatically increased demands in data communications market, a brand new data communications industry has being evolving by data centric digital convergence with telecommunications, information and neo-media technologies integration. The traditional analyses in most published studies have been based on government policies and corporate competition. The objective of this thesis is to propose the effects of technologies competition analysis viewpoints, and therefore point out the consequent impacts on the industry developments and the corporate strategies. Based upon transmission distances, the data communications networks are classified into backbone, access, and local area networks, and have been a fundamental skill for technology analysis. To further understand the industry developments and the corporate strategies, in this thesis we extend this distance viewpoint and propose a brand new analysis model: an architecture consisting of three fundamental dimensions, namely, the distance aspect, the OSI reference model and the competition of different kinds of network technologies. Furthermore, with technology S-curve, standardization, network effect, and converter theories, we propose new viewpoints of competition models among data communications technologies as well as alternative strategies for the competitors.
