Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 資訊工程學研究所 === 90 === Calligraphy and Chinese painting are significant traditional arts of China, and its representation of ink and water, as well as the abstract artistic conception, is quite different from that of Western painting. In order to make painting processes easier to be adapted to and more convenient to use, we develop a Chinese painting system using a pressure sensing pen and a tablet as its input devices. Users can hold the digital pen and draw on tablet. As the positions, orientations, and pressures of the digital pen change, strokes in Chinese painting are simulated on a virtual paper. This system is composed of three parts. First, input devices and user interface help artists paint intuitively. Because the input devices contain information of orientations, brush simulation becomes more realistic. Second, bending springs are used to be our skeletons of a brush in order to simulate the dynamics. Accordingly it can produce the effects of brush forking. Last, the ink-water transfer model is responsible for ink and water transfer between brush and paper. Multi-layer structure of ink and water is adopted in our system, and this model can simulate Chinese painting strokes by combining algorithms of transfer, fading and spreading of ink and water. There exist commercial painting software with functions of simulating Chinese painting, however, it costs much time and effort. Hence, a system that is easy to use without much training can make the process of calligraphy and Chinese painting more popular and user friendly, and that is why we design this system.
