The goal of this study is to develop a platform to evaluate and test the digital hearing aids with new algorithms in engineering, acoustic characteristics and clinical applications. Directional microphone based on a dual microphone system, band splitting and stimulation of echo cancellation are developed in this research.
A method based on the multi-rate signal processing to overcome the minute delay problem in dual microphone system is implemented because the directional microphone is the most effective way to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. The directional characteristic of this dual microphone system was then validated in anechoic chamber.
The band splitting based on adjustable multilevel filter was developed for this platform to set band numbers and gains by a computer program. The experiments show that the computational complexity is the same even when band number is increased.
In the future, we will focus on Chinese intelligibility test with clinical patients. Optimal parameters will be developed using this platform.
