By using this method, the behavior constraints such as stresses, displacements and natural frequencies can be transferred into explicit functions of design variables in the design process. It can satisfy the function value and sensitivity not only at the current point but also at the previous point. Through this kind of transformation, structural optimization problems can be solved easily by using the general numerical optimization method. Finally, a computer program for structural optimization that integrates the theory of optimization and the ANSYS finite element analysis software are developed. By using this program, optimum results of some testing examples in reference papers and practical structural design problems are given. From these numerical results, it shows that the proposed method gives convergent results in less iterations and also proves the practicability of this two-point approximation method for structural optimization.
