In contrast, the prospects for Mobile Commerce appear more positive, because of the dramatic increase in demand for powerful mobile devices. Today, professionals are conducting an increasing number of business activities outside traditional office settings. These "mobile professionals" need tools and services that allow them to access and interact with information and services relevant to their enterprises. Mobile computing, also known as pervasive computing, provides a series of technologies that enable people to accomplish personal and professional tasks using this new class of portable, intelligent, wired or wireless mobile devices. These mobile devices give people access to information at any time and any place. In this study, a generic data synchronization architecture was presented to solve the difficulties of exchanging data between a mobile device and an enterprise database server. This study focuses on a mobile device, which is equipped with a fingerprint sized database engine to replicate its subscribed data from the given database server, through a data synchronization mechanism. A Palm based experimental electronic lottery system is illustrated in this study to demonstrate how the data synchronization architecture operates.
