碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 電機工程系 === 90 === Due to the innovation and the progression of current technology, 3D virtual human, which is made by computer animation, becomes more vivid and sophisticated. 3D technologies have been widely used in our dairy life, especially in those applications of virtual human. In the past year, most of works required human being to process, but it can be fully replaced by virtual humans now. For example, the News station only hired those people with a good appearance to broadcast the news. However, a virtual human already takes over the seat to be the newscaster in many TV stations (eg. www.ananova.com). The other example, can you image that virtual humans could become an actor or actress to act in the movies? The movie directors begin to adapt those virtual humans to act in the movie. Those virtual actors and actresses not only became so famous but also earned huge profit for the moviemakers. Although virtual humans can do better job than real people do in many aspects, designer and producer of those virtual humans become more crucial to the success of those virtual actor and actress. Behind the scenes, compared with those real actors and actresses, it is time consuming and needs more effort to produce those virtual actors and actresses’ motions and the facial expressions. In this thesis, we create a virtual human called“Story”. “Story” can broadcast the news on line with automatically facial expression that attracts most audiences’ attention. This new technology could help audiences listen to the news broadcast from virtual newscaster and obtain the strong impressions of those characters.
