The innovated fan is consists of an axial-flow rotor and a centrifugal housing. To meet the different thermal tasks, several sizes of cooling fan (45×45×15 mm, 45×45×07 mm, 45×45×10 mm, 50×50×09 mm, and 50×50×10 mm) are designed under notebook’s space limitations. At first, basic rotors are designed with the NACA airfoil. Thereafter, a parametric study on fan geometry is executed to enhance the cooling fan’s performance. The parameters considered here include the blade inlet angle, blade number, tip clearance, and the inlet area. Later, by means of numerical simulation, flowfields associated with those fans are examined carefully to yield the necessary modifications. Numerical analysis and experimental results show that the novel fan proposed here demonstrates a superior performance over the traditional design. Also, it is concluded that blade designed with NACA airfoil enhance performance and reduce noise outcome. Furthermore, a detailed discussion is given to identify those important parameters, which have great effect on fan performance.
