Description
Summary:碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 戲劇研究所 === 90 === ABSTRACT Drama broadcasting, with the sweet voice of its actors and actresses, was verypopular in Taiwan from 1960s to 1970s. Five chapters are included in this MA thesis, A Study on Hsiao-ping Tsui’s Drama broadcasting. The first chapter is an introduction stating the purpose, motive and method of this research paper. The second chapter is a brief record of Ms. Hsiao- ping Tsui’s biography. The third chapter accounts the relationship between Ms. Tsui and the BBC’s Drama Broadcasting troupe of that period. The fourth chapter analyses the special qualities about Ms. Tsui as an outstanding director of drama broadcasting; and the last chapter is conclusionn. By applying the techniques of stage performance into drama broadcasting, she has remarkably brought drama alive in the air with various voices and sound effects since 1960s. As a director, besides requiring good acting scripts, original or adapted, she insisted on strict discipline on sound effects and timing for the actor/actress in order to capture the attention of radio audiences. She has truly made drama broadcasting an art. Since sound effects have always been the most single important factor for broadcasting , Ms. Tsui uncompromisingly demanded all performers to have vocal, phonation and tonal training for clear voice deliverance, especially for drama broadcasting. In the last part of the paper, Ms. Tsui’s prouction of “ Lei Yu” is chosen to illustrate her great contributions to the art of drama broadcasting.
