Therefore, it is a profound and serious question on how to reduce the waste gas the internal combustion engine emit into the lowest point and to seek the substitute fuel, or to make use of the existing fuel to prolong the use of petrifuel and reduce the emission of waste gas at the same time under conditions of not influencing engine performance and the consumption of fuel. This research aims to explore the influence, the emulsified fuel which is made out by putting emulsified and various percentages of water including 5%(w5), 8%(w8), 10%(w10), 15%(w15) etc. into diesel fuel has on direct injection diesel engine, and to make the comparison about engine performance, combustion characteristics, and concentration of the waste gas without changing the original design of diesel fuel engine, the parameters such as compression ratio, combustion chamber, injection pressure, the location and form of nozzles and injection angles etc. In the experiment result of the experiment shows that w5 fuel, its fuel consumption and the emission of smoke have advantages over PD fuel under all ranges of speed of rotation and load, while w8 fuel''s ratio of consumption of fuel equals to that of PD fuel, but its concentration of NOx and smoke are better than PD fuel in the same situation. The conclusion is that to put 5% or 8% water into diesel can effectively improve the diesel fuel engine in aspects of fuel consumption and the concentration of waste gas. But when we put more than 8% water into diesel fuel, we can see the fuel consumption is inferior to that of PD fuel while the concentration of waste gas has better improvement than that of PD fuel.
