Although the growth of high technology industrial facilities has been increasing, the construction of these facilities is still experience-based and no construction knowledge has been well statistically analyzed and well documented. Without such knowledge for sharing between high technology project practitioners, the problems always happened during the period of construction would still have been existing for a long time. The objective of this study is to investigate the VLSI,Vary Large Scale Integration, related factory construction projects. Through the understanding of the characteristics of high technology factory projects, we will evaluate the feasibility of the design and build method for the high technology factory construction projects. As a whole, the merits of the design and build method will provide many advantages to clients, owners and users, such as promoting the quality of the project, performing fast-track schedule, providing advantages for safety and environmental protection issue during the period of the construction, and proposing the reasonable and economical design. The results should help both clients and turnkey-venders going well and following the clients'' criteria in new factory projects. And that also is the initial motive and main purpose of this study.
