In order to strengthen the position in the competitive market, most enterprises have started to make plans and financial investments to implement ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system. Even though most enterprises in Taiwan have recognized the benefits of implementing ERP system, they are still looking for an efficient way to successfully implement the system. The main purpose of this study is to provide a reference of the key successful factors on ERP system implementation. The conclusion of the study is based on the result of questionnaire consolidated from end users and the interview with key project member within the case company, P Company, which has already had a very successful ERP system implementation experience. The study presents four major factors that would facilitate the enterprise in the implementation of ERP system, including strong determination and support from the Management level, well-integrated system functionality, complete and well-prepared training program for both IT people and end users, and accurate and precise data conversion. These conclusions that were reached through PCA (Principal Components Analysis) process decide whether an ERP system implementation is a success or not: 1. Sound preparation before system implemented 2. Characteristics of the ERP system These two factors stated above express their importance of the roles played in the system implementation, of which the variation explanation is 64%. While taking another two factors, straightforward company strategy and structured organization, into consideration, the variation explanation will increase the ability to 80%. Nowadays the benefit evaluation of ERP system implementation is not an easy job because the benchmark is not built up to a certain level yet. From this study, the author hopes to set up the model of a reference guideline of ERP system implementation, which may become a useful reference for both the enterprises and academic organizations.
