Summary:碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 犯罪防治研究所 === 91 === The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the lying behavior, lying motivation in juveniles. Differences of lying behavior between delinquent juveniles and normal juveniles were also investigated. The 436 delinquent juveniles and 472 high school students were sampled from three counties in Taiwan, their age are from twelve to eighteen. The Attitude of Lying Questionnaire was used to investigate the subjects’ lying behavior and motivation. The major findings were found as follows: (1) Juvenile most often tell lies to parents and lying to avoid punishment. (2) Boys tell more lies than girls and have stronger tendency lying for attracting others attention, having fun, and getting benefit. Girls more often lying for not hurt others. (3) Delinquent juveniles tell more lies than normal group and more often lying for funny and attracting others attention. Implications for normal education, delinquency prevention, and counseling were also discussed.
