Description
Summary:碩士 === 朝陽科技大學 === 幼兒保育系碩士班 === 91 === Picture Books are the right key to lead young children to literal reading through the appreciation of it. For young children’s learning experience is limited, the picture books in which contain lots of illustrations and simple descriptions turn out to be the best reading materials. In addition, the teachers in the kindergartens are the promoters of the children’s reading movement. Therefore, by the time Children Reading Movement dominated by Ministry of Education will have been carried out for 3 years, we make an investigation on the kindergarten teachers’ use of picture books. To put it concrete, the goals of this research are as follows: 1. to understand the present situation of kindergarten teachers’ use of picture books;2. how to choose the prime picture books;3. how to apply teaching strategies;4. how to create the reading atmosphere in the classroom;5. how to make good use of a variety of resources;and 6. the design of extension activity after picture book teaching. The research objects fall on selective 520 teachers randomly chosen from 70 public and private kindergartens in Taichung City. The investigation instrument is “Questionnaire on the Kindergarten Teachers’ Use of Picture Books” while the data from this questionnaire will be analyzed by some statistical methods such as One-Way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation. Among those who use picture books in teaching, we choose ten of them and then interview with them. According to the research results, when the teachers proceed picture book teaching, there will be well behavioral performance in certain aspects such as “the selection of picture books,” “teaching strategies,” “classroom decoration,” “other resources,” and “extension activities.” Above all, the senior teachers exceed others in use of picture books while the junior teachers stand out in use of Internet resources; however, most teachers leave much room to be improved in use of other resources, such as using of network. The interviews point out that the use of picture books lend a helping hand in young children’s development of all sides, and the authorities concerned should keep on subsidizing kindergarten’s reading resources to meet the need of teaching diversity. We sincerely hope that this study can serve as the reference for and provide the constructive suggestions to educational institute and future research.
