In the western countries most of cars are installed a kind of pressure sensor called “MAP”(Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor). The MAP sensor measures changes in the intake manifold pressure resulting from engine load and speed changes. Engine Control Modules(ECM) sends a 5-volt reference signal to the MAP sensor. As pressure changes in the intake manifold occur, the electrical resistance of the MAP sensor also changes. By monitoring the sensor output voltage, ECM can determine the manifold absolute pressure. We plan to design a pressure sensor circuits could generate the range of voltage from 0.2V~4.85V relatives to the pressure from 15kPa~102kPa.In addition, the circuits could operate in the environment of -40℃~125℃ temperature variety. After completing the circuits’ design an automated control platform should be produced to test how well the circuits’ performance. For the primary stage we had set up a set of equipment that through the pump to reduce the pressure and then by naturally leakage for increasing the pressure smoothly; but it produces louder noise and occupies the space. So we have decided to make another test platform that based on using the programmable logic controller (PLC)to drive the motor taking an airtight cylinder’s piston rod move on and back, so that the pressure will change automatically without operator to handle it. Then a control interface program written by Microsoft Visual Basic6.0 will be adopted to make the operator more easily to test the MAP sensors. This program would display the test results in two interfaces: a simple、clear report and a graphical diagram for advanced analysis to the engineers.
