description 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 語言學研究所 === 91 === There are five chapters in this thesis. Chapter 1 illustrates the motive and purpose, and the methodology. Due to the change of language environment, languages of minority groups are disappearing. Nevertheless, self-awareness of the minorities and advocating aboriginal mother tongue teaching by the government make the compilation of aboriginal multimedia textbooks an urgent necessity. Thus, this thesis probe the possibility of using the modern technology─multimedia hypertext, to edit an aboriginal textbook. Truku dialect of Seediq is chosen not only because of its significance for the reconstruction of proto-Formosan, but also to supplement the insufficiency in available documents in this respect. Since inspecting the possibility of editing a multimedia hypertext is the focus of this thesis, a systematic organization of the related language data and audio files hyperlinks are provided wherever possible for each word and sentence in every section. A CD version of this thesis is attached with the text hardcopy of the thesis so as to attain the goal of informant-independent non-simultaneous long distant teaching. On the basis of this thesis, a teaching website for Seediq is feasible. Chapter 2 is divided into five parts: phonology, morphology, morphophonemics, morphosyntax and syntax. Phonetic inventory, phonetic comparison among three dialects and phonetic variation in Truku dialect is discussed in phonology. Morphological affixes in Truku are briefly introduced in morphology. Since phonology and morphology is closely related in this language, a section of morphophonemics is given to handle the phonology and morphology interface. Besides reviewing previous studies, aspects of some unmentioned phenomena such as nasal assimilation in speech stream, vowel assimilation in stressed syllable and resyllabification in stressed syllable etc. are pointed out in this section. The concept of “fleeting vowel” (fluechtiger Vokal) is cited to take care of these phenomena. Word order, focus system and tense/aspect systems are discussed in a section for morphosyntax. The different usage of Locative Focus (LF) is also compared among different dialects here. Simple sentence and complex sentence are included in the section for syntax. Description of existential, interrogative, negation and imperative structures are explained in the subsection for simple sentence; while serial verbs, coordination, relative clause and subordination are illustrated in the subsection for complex sentence. Chapter 3 is a preliminary attempt of compiling building block materials for textbook , which is divided into three sections: letter practice, conversation and texts. In addition to the different drills for every section, we use IC (Immediate Constituent) to help learners to gradually construct a sentence, or even a paragraph starting with word, phrase, clause to larger language units up the paragraph. Chapter 4 is a reflection on the technical aspects involved in editing a multimedia hypertext textbook. For example, use of software, audio file format, management of audio files and the related materials for choosing topics of textbooks are mentioned in this section. This experience might help colleagues who might also want to organize a language data bank or edit a multimedia textbook. Chapter 5 evaluates the contribution of the present thesis. It contributes to the preliminary investigation of Truku phonology and syntax, highlights some problems in prevailing Truku writing systems and offers some suggestions, and most important of all proves the feasibility of applying multimedia hypertext to the editing of aboriginal language textbook. The achievement of the Academia Sinica Formosan Archive is respectful, but attempts to search for related materials of Seediq are often frustratingly unsatisfactory. The language data collected of this multimedia hypertext might complement and enrich the Sinica Archive. Considering the complexity and the gigantic works in the probing attempt of the present thesis, certain improvements are obvious necessary in the future: such as emphasis of language data that reveals the unique culture of Truku, and application of other kinds of hyperlinks that are not attempted in the present thesis, such as pictures and animation etc.
