Some interviewes with proprietors of hot spring hotels were performed to understand the operating status and characteristics on hot spring hotels. Focusing on the result of the above two factors analysis, a web-based expert system for the hot spring hotel is established. In addition to providing the quick search on the hot spring hotels’ information to fulfill their needs, the web-based expert system also proposes some consumer’s behavior and preference based on the production rules built in the system for the suppliers on pricing strategies purposes. This research was broken down into quantitative and qualitative research methods. The quantitative method was surveyed by using structure questionnaires targeting on the investigation which was directed at hot spring hotel’s owners and tourists. The survey collected through the internet with web database function. There data were 23 samples taken from the hot spring hotel’s owners and 419 samples taken from tourists. The qualitative method data was collected from in-depth interviews with 3 hot spring hotels’ owners or managers. Data from these interviews were video and audio tape-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed for common themes and contexts. At the end, the research used ID3(Iterative Dichotomizer 3), Dreamweaver UltraDev 4.0, and Microsoft Access 2000 to establish the web-based expert system. The functions of the web-based expert system for the hotspring hotel in Taipei are divided into eight parts: knowledge of hot spring, recommended trip, message, Q&A, expert system, spring characters, web questionnaire and video display. Hopefully, the suggestion provided by the system were able to give some useful information to both hot springs’ owners and tourists. For the hot springs’ owners, this research can assist them in knowing and understanding better about their customers; increase marketing planning, promote hotel’s profit, rise the core competence against other hot spring hotels, and provide the best practices to hot spring hotels’ owners. On the other hand, the web-based expert system stores the knowledge and information for the hotspring hotel tourists through intelligence and user friendly interface. Several search engines were provided by the web-based expert system for the hotspring tourists to perform any specific queries. Shung-Kung Wu 吳世光 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 201 zh-TW
