The IAs are designed for remote operation and management, and further to advance the capabilities of collaboration with the others. The communication network for IAs is called home automation network (HAN). The HAN needs to provide some essential functions for IAs; the quality of service (QoS) is one of the most important mechanisms. In this paper, we recommend a classification mechanism for applications on HAN, and propose a buffer management scheme CPBMH. The proposed CPBM H. scheme has been compared with conventional buffer management scheme of CBQ and the CPBM scheme using a simulation system, constructed by NS2 and Generator of self-similar network traffic version 2. The CPBMH in conjunction with classification mechanism for HAN provides a simple but robust scheme that obviously reduces the replacement rate of the emergencies packets.
