Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 經營管理研究所 === 91 === At present, TFT-LCD products all are made in Asia. Taiwan, Japan and Korea have almost shared one hundred percent of market sharing; as a result, commercial activities of the related firms in these areas would greatly cause change of TFT-LCD industry. In TFT-LCD industry, both Taiwan and Korea have set their strategy as “Process Technology”, which relates to a manufacturing development strategy, therefore the competition is keen between two countries. Japanese firms have, after evaluating their competitive edge and weakness after financial crisis in Asia, set their competitive strategy as “System Specification” and built up know-how research and development and control key spare parts and components and production facilities in order to avoid competition with Taiwanese and Korean firms by way of low pricing and mass production. Meanwhile, Japanese firms earn royalty by licensing or authorizing their production know-how so as to inject cash flow to their business units. Taiwan and Korea are principal clients of technical transfer from Japanese firms. Relationship of strategy alliance between Taiwanese and Japanese firms is relatively intimate, so cooperation is higher than competition for both countries. Taiwanese and Korean TFT-LCD Industry are the objects of the present research. I tried making a comprehensive analysis and understanding in the light of “Manufacturing Development Strategy”, “Strategic Positioning”, “Manufacturing Strategy”, “Core Capacity” as well as “Key Supporting Factors”. I sincerely hope Taiwanese firms that will become the worldwide leader of TFT-LCD industry could make a further understanding about strength and weakness between Taiwan and Korea through the present thesis. On the other hand, countermeasures that shall be taken by the related firms and industrial information that is necessary for the related Taiwanese industry are also spelt out herein.
