Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 91 === The purposes of this study were to investigate the relationships between professional commitment and school effectiveness for the elementary school principals. A questionnaire developed in this study was used to survey on 460 elementary school principals. From the statistical analysis of this results, the following conclusions were drawn: 1.Among the sectional scores within the professional commitment , “job involvement” is the highest. 2.There were significant differences of background characteristics on levels of elementary school principals’ professional commitment. There were “sex”、”educational background” and “class numbers in school”. 3. Among the sectional scores within the school effectiveness, “administration performance” is the highest. 4. There were significant differences of background characteristics on levels of school effectiveness. There were “age”、”seniority“、”area” and “class numbers in school”. 5.Elementary school principals’ professional commitment could effectively explain school effectiveness. Recommendations for theoretical and practical implications are presented in the final report based on the above findings.
