This material was expected to enhance the risk cognitive ability of workers and then to prevent the occurrence of accidents in workshops. The use of animation software for this purpose is rare in Taiwan. Therefore, the comparison and evaluation of the superiority and inferiority between simulation software and traditional realistic shooting frame were discussed. This study was conducted by the following steps. First, the occupational accident statistics were analyzed, and 10 cases which were reported most frequently were chosen in this study. Two groups were then revealed: unsafe actions and unsafe surroundings. Second, these 10 cases were simulated by animation software and traditional realistic shooting frame. Finally, a questionnaire was designed for evaluating the superiority and inferiority of these two ways. 20 senior workers and occupational safety managers were invited to answer the questionnaire and the results were analyzed. The conclusions of this study are as follows: 1.3D computer animated simulation is capable of showing causes, progress and severity of accidents. 2.Some operation movements that are hard to be expressed by words can be done very clearly by 3D computer animation. 3.A dangerous condition shown by 3D computer animation is superior compare to the one shown by traditional realistic shooting frame. 4.A rough 3D animated simulation can not draw the attraction from the trainee. 5.It is essential to use simulation softwares as education materials especially for the newcomers in workplaces.
