However, whether the Internet users respect information privacy, that is, whether the information is used correctly, is central to the question of whether the enormous capabilities and usefulness of the Internet could be realized. Currently, more and more adolescents are attracted intensely by the Internet. But in the Internet there is much improper information. The Internet can be used to spread personal information, and to invade personal privacy. As a result, in this environment for the adolescents who are in the key stage of moral reasoning development, ensuring that adolescents learn to respect the value of information and privacy, just as their computer skills progress, is an important issue. It is also necessary to investigate if there are some harmful effects on such adolescents from their exposure to the Internet. If so, can such effects be corrected and how? For the reason, understanding the effect of the Internet on adolescents’ information privacy self-regulation is emerging as the important issue of Internet age. However, there are relatively few studies that have focused on these issues. Based on Sproull & Kieslers’ Lack of Social Context Cues Hypothesis and Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory, this research will analyze the characteristics of the Internet and investigate their impact on adolescents’ information privacy self-regulation. Based on the results, valuable recommendations will be made for practical applications and further research on this important issue. The results indicate that the anonymity of the Internet would affect the self-awareness of adolescents and make them have a disinhibited feeling toward the Internet, which affects their information privacy self-efficacy .
