There are seven main purposes: 1.To know junior high school students’ current situation of shyness. 2.To find out the difference of shyness in different demographic variables students. 3.To find out the difference of shyness in different life adjustments students. 4.To explore the correlation between life adjustment and shyness. 5.To find out the interaction effect in shyness of different demographic variables and different life adjustments students. 6.To find out the prediction in shyness of demographic variables and life adjustments . 7.Finally, some suggestions are proposed for teachers, parents, or people in the related research areas. To fulfill the purpose, 833 junior high school students from eleven different districts of Kaohsiung city are sampled. Data gathered from the samples are then analyzed through description statistics, Pearson’s product-moment correlation, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis. The major finding are listed below: 1.The shyness of junior high school students is close to average. 2.In all dimensions of shyness, girls are shier than boys. 3.In cognition dimension of shyness, the third grade students are shier than first or second grade students. 4.In emotional dimension of shyness, middle-birth-order students are shier than last-birth-order or only-son(daughter)students. 5.There is no significant difference in shyness among junior high school students of different parenting styles. 6.There is significant difference in shyness among junior high school students of different life adjustment. Low-life-adjustment students are much shier than others. 7. In all dimensions of shyness of junior high school students is negatively correlated with life adjustment. 8.There is no significant interaction effect in shyness among junior high school students of different genders and different life adjustments. 9.In totality, cognition, and emotional dimensions of shyness, there is significant interaction effect among junior high school students of different grades and different life adjustments. 10.In cognition dimension of shyness, there is significant interaction effect among junior high school students of different birth orders and different life adjustments. 11.In totality and emotional dimensions of shyness, there is significant interaction effect among junior high school students of different parenting styles and different life adjustments. 12.The shyness of junior high school students can be predicted through demographic variables(gender, grade, birth order, parenting styles)and life adjustment. Finally, based on the resultsof the study, suggestions are made respectively for teachers, parents, and further research.
