This research study wants to explore the relationship among attachment styles, life adjustment and the teacher-student relationship. The valid sample consistes of 952 students from the second grade in junior high school in kaohsiung city.
The attachment style includes three levels. They are secure attachment, separating/anxiety attachment and avoidant attachment. The life adjustment is divided
Into individual adjustment, family life adjustment and school life adjustment.
The purpose of the study is to explore 1. If the life adjustment in different attachment styles shows difference and significant relations with attachment styles.
2. If different attachment styles affact the teacher-student relationship. 3. If the teacher-student relationship vary according to life adjustment. 4. If the attachment styles and life adjustment interact with each other in the teacher-student relationship. 5. If both the attachment styles and life adjustment could predict the teacher-student relationship.
The research instruments adopte “ Adolescent attachment-individual scale”,”The life adjustment scale of junior high school students” and ”The teacher-student relationship scale”. All the data obtained in the survey are statistically analyzed by SPSS for window 10.0. The statistic methods included in the study are descriptive statistic, pearson product-moment correlation, ANOVA, and multiple simultaneous regression.
The main results of the study are as follows:
1.About half of the students belong to secure attachment style.
The secure attachment style is better than eparation/anxiety
attachment and avoidant attachment in life adjustment. In
addition. The attachment is positively correlated with life
adjustment.
2.In the aspect of teachment-student relationship, the secure
attachment style is better than separating/anxiety attachment
and avoidant attachment. Those who are better adjusted to
school life are superior to those who are individual
adjustment and family life adjustment.
3.There is no significant difference found although the
different life adjustment in the teacher-student relationship
when the attachment styles different.
4.The school life adjustment, the secure attachment and the
family life adjustment can predict the variances in the
teacher-student relationship in junior high school which
reached 26.6﹪.
Base on these research results, some recommendations are proposed for future study and refrences for parents, teachers and schools.
