The purpose of this study is to explore the influences of certain factors on the parent’s role adjustment of these women. Such factors include one’s individual background as well as one’s family internal and external resources. In addition, in accordance with their adjusted situations, this study also analyzed education programs that are best suited for parents. Researchers of this study individually interviewed five female spouses from Mainland China who lived in Taiwan for at least one year and whose child/children were under the age of eight. Analytic comparison and illustrative methods of qualitative research were used to analyze the interviewed records, which were transcribed word by word from tapes. The findings and conclusions of this study are as follows: 1.One’s individual background and family’s internal and external resources of female spouses from Mainland China in the intermarried family of Taiwan and Mainland do affect their parent’s role adjustment. 2.The demands of parent’s education mainly include: supplying professional knowledge such as: child development theory, child nutritional information and child rearing skills; cultivating proper and expansible relaxation; increasing their knowledge of using public utility and equipment; and introducing the educational institution in Taiwan and the features of each nursing and education models. 3.Social acceptance and identification is the axial reason of the parenting adjustment for female spouse from Mainland China. 4.Some of the women’s experiences do not correspond with the stereotyped image to the ‘bride from China’ of people in Taiwan. Based upon the conclusions, this study showed that if we want to improve the parenting adjustment situation of female spouses from Mainland China, the related education services for parents have to be implemented from two perspectives:first, services to the female spouse from China, second, services to the people in Taiwan. For the female spouses from China, assistance and support should be provided to focus on their needs. Guidance should then be provided to promote their definition in Taiwanese society. As for the people in Taiwan, it is necessary to increase their awareness and understanding of the social situations of multicultural marriages in order for them to establish a tolerant attitude to other racial cultures.
