碩士 === 臺中師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 91 === A Study of the Correlation between Learning Behaviors and Academic Achievement of the the Fifth and Sixth Graders in elementary schools in Changhua County By Chin-He Chang Abstract The main purposes of this study were : 1. to investigate the learning beha- viors of the students in the fifth and the sixth graders of elementary schools; 2.to explore their academic achievements of the students;3.to find out the correlation between their learning behaviors and academic achievement and 4. to make some concrete suggestions based on the results of the study to help elementary school teachers to guide their students΄ learning behaviors. The samples of this study were 2,441 fifth and sixth graders students randomly selected from 43 elementary schools in Changhua County. The researcher selected the subjects΄ academic scores of mandarin, mathematics, society science and natural science, and to get the scores according to the elementary students΄ learning behavior scales. Based upon the data analysis, this study reached the following conclusions: 1. The girls΄ learning behaviors were better than the boys΄. 2. The fifth graders΄ learning behavior were better than the sixth grader΄. 3. The students from city schools had the better learning behaviors than those from country schools. 4. In academic achievement, the girls΄ were better than the boys΄. 5. In academic achievement, the fifth graders were better than the sixth graders. 6. In academic achievement, the students from city schools had the higher scores than those from urban schools and country schools. 7. There were significant positive correlations between learning behaviors and academic achievements. 8. The examination method of 「elementary students΄ learning behavior scales」could be predicted most effectly upon academic achievements. At last, according to the major findings , the suggestions were made to assist educational authorities and elementary school teachers to guide their students and to parents to help their children learn and to make references for furthur researches.
